Seattle Traffic 1.0
This application essentially re-renders the image information from the WSDOT website on your Java or xHTML enabled cell phone. It has been developed and tested on Sprint based phones.
First, download the application to your phone.
Depending on which version you wish to use Java or xHTML,
Once you start it, the application will download the main north-up system map. It will render as much of the map as your screen can display, centered on the screen look at the screenshot on the right. Since a cellphone screen is usually too small to display the entire map, the phone will only display a subset of the map. You can then use the numeric keypad to pan and move the map in various directions:
Additionally, there are two menu options which you can choose from:
Exit – ends the application. The location of the last map you were viewing is saved and restored when you run the application the next time.
Menu – brings up a menu which has the following entries:
maps – lets you choose a different map to view.
Incidents – traffic incidents and accidents.
News – the latest news about the application.
Help – displays help information.
About – shows copyright info.
There is a timer which counts down in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. This is the time remaining until the next update of the traffic information. After this time has elapsed, the application will refresh the traffic information map.
If the WSDOT server could not be contacted and an image is older than 5 minutes, then the top right hand corner of the map displays the time that the map currently being viewed was loaded from the server.
